As a four-year college graduate studying graphic design and visual communication, it becomes more apparent to me how often people live out their daily lives and don’t realize that they are constantly surrounded by graphic design. We live in a visual culture that relies on word and image that serves as our primary form of communication. I think people tend to take the visuals they see for granted and overlook these matters as in-depth compositions that deal with art elements such as, line, form, shape, and color. My main objective, as a graphic designer, is to create simple and clean visuals of what I am representing that causes a person to think about what they are seeing and to continue thinking about what they have seen. I believe my role as an artist and graphic designer is to create something new that stirs interest in the minds of the audience, but at the same time keeps up with the current trends of commercial art. For every thing I create a process of design is involved. When designing such things as simple ads or logos for a client, I like to begin by flipping through magazines, web browsing, or driving around in a city looking at billboards and taking notes on what makes those ads or logos successful. I begin sketching out ideas either on the computer or in a sketchbook. The client plays an important role in the design process. Successful design is obtained when the client and designer work together to form something that is aesthetically pleasing to the audience and client. I have always seen myself as a creator in this process of making connections and combining ideas in such an effective way that I could not possibly imagine doing anything else with my life.
Special thanks to the people who continue to inspire and criticize me in my life. These people accept me for who I am as a person, embracing me with every flaw and imperfection. I could never express how much these people have influenced me, but only give them the credit they very much deserve. I’m humbled by their patience and their ability to teach me new things. Thank you. My Parents
